Following the publication of the peer-reviewed paper The Language and Writing System of MS408 (Voynich) Explained, in the journal Romance Studies, many scholars have requested a method paper of instruction in order to participate in translating the entire manuscript.

The manuscript originates from Castello Aragonese, Ischia, Italy, c. 1444, and was written as an aid mémoire for Maria of Castile, Queen of Aragon.
