Title of the position: Research associate for the project "Similarity Measurement of Visual Patterns in Written Artefacts"
Institution: Cluster of Excellence „Understanding Written Artefacts“
Salary level: EGR. 13 TV-L
Start date: 01.07.2022, fixed until 31.12.2025 (This is a fixed-term contract in accordance with Section 2 of the academic fixed-term labor contract act [Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG]).

Scope of work: full-time position suitable for part-time
Responsibilities: Duties primarily include research. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.
Specific Duties: Research in the frame of the project “Similarity Measurement of Visual Patterns in Written Artefacts” in the Cluster’s research field Artefact Profiling. This includes publications and further studies relating to the project, participation in the Cluster’s research activities, the organisation of scholarly events.
The applicant is expected to research, implement and test various similarity measurement learning approaches and loss functions in addition to different hierarchical clustering algorithms.
Requirements: A university degree in a relevant subject plus doctorate. In addition, a very good theoretical and practical knowledge in:
* machine learning
* deep learning
* computer vision algorithms
Preferred skills to have are:
* Tensorflow and Python
* ASP.NET and C#
* OpenCV
Very good knowledge of written and spoken English is required.
