<div style="margin: 0px; color: black">The translation of a digitised Medieval manuscript page has revealed the record of a rare Mediterranean medicinal plant, from c. 1444. The plant is<span style="margin: 0px"> </span><i>Atropa baetica</i>, which is now endangered

kept in the apothecary cabinet.<span style="margin: 0px"> </span><span style="margin: 0px">This particular plant was used for cosmetic applications, to the eyes and face, and as an abortifacient: to induce miscarriage as a form of contraception. </span></div>
